Our Hospital

History:
Iran is world-renowned for its Poetry and Carpet. The late Haj Mohammad Arjomand Kermani was one of the elites in the field of carpet design and weaving. He was named “Sultan of Carpet” because of his special competency in this field.
Today we can see Arjomand’s valuable handmade carpets in the Carpet Museum, Sadabad & Niyavaran Palace, Emam Reza Museum, and Negrsetan Garden and then one can realize the global and valuable position of handmade carpets and the Sultan of Iranian carpet.
During the same time as his carpet business, he founded an endowment in 1935 that provided valuable, lasting, and humanitarian services. The first step of this great and benevolent act was to build a hospital with 30 beds that centered on providing services to women carpet weavers. Fortunately, this center has succeeded in providing medical services to the general community of Kerman and the southeast region of Iran for seven decades.
This hospital started its services under the management of Dr. Herman from Austria and a group of colleagues and medical staff who were mostly German and Austrians. After Dr.Herman, Dr Mohammad Nasser, a famous surgeon, became the head of the hospital.
In November 1969, Dr Manouchehr Arjomand (son of the late Haj Mohammad Arjomand) took charge of the Arjomand Endowment and became Director of the hospital. He studied medicine in Switzerland and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the United States. By getting expertise in this field he honored the status of women and motherhood which ensures the continuation of creation.
During the time of Dr.Arjomand’s tenure, the cooperation of the late Esmat Arjomand and Dr Parvin Roohi who was one of the first pediatricians in Kerman (student of the great Professor Mohamad Gharib), played a significant role in the hospital success and serving patients. Dr Arjomand upgraded the hospital to 50 beds in the 70s, expanded it physically, and built modern and well-equipped departments whilst keeping the original building of the hospital. In 2017, in continuation of the benefactor’s intentions, he added Karmania Hospital to the endowment. In 2019, a pediatric oncology ward was launched with the cooperation of the Komak Charity Association which supports children with cancer.
Amongst the many awards and accolades that Dr Manouchehr Arjomand has received, he has also been recognized as an “Exemplary Benefactor” and trustee by the Iranian Vakf organization. In addition, he has also been awarded the “Afzalipour Best Entrepreneur Award” by the Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman.
Dr Manouchehr Arjomand passed away in October 2021 and was put to rest in the hospital museum next to his honorable father and sister, may his memory and valuable services be always cherished. Currently, the trusteeship of the Arjomand endowment has been entrusted to his son Dr Karim Arjomand, a periodontist from the US. Yasmin Arjomand cooperates with him in the administration of the endowment.
This medical center provides services under the supervision of endowment in line with the high goals of the benefactor by the presence of health specialists including excellent doctors and experienced and caring staff, under the management of Dr Pourseyedi, an honorable doctor and famous surgeon.
In keeping with the past, this center has been a refuge for the sick and the suffering, and it strives to be an exemplary model for the future generations.
